Abstract:

Historical Clothing Reconstruction as Research includes the study of three historical garments. They were researched, patterned, and recreated. One garment set was recreated as accurately as possible pertaining to fabric choice. The other two are constructed from a cotton. The purpose of this paper is to walk the reader through the process of creating these historical garments. Upon completion, this work was to be displayed in an exhibition style setting to share with the community. The overall mission of this project is to explore the importance of replication and tactile learning in a museum setting.
