Abstract
The way Greek archaeology has been practiced during the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries until the present day is introduced and studied in this thesis. More specifically, important personalities that have indelibly influenced this discipline in Greece along with their scientific and field works are presented and partially analyzed. Last but not least the problems archaeology in Greece currently faces, as global economic crisis has also dramatically hit it, are analyzed.
