Abstract:

“Talking Truth: the Vocabulary of Honesty in Archaic Greek Poetry” examines the rich early Greek vocabulary for truth, seeking to better understand the words themselves, the classic works of literature in which they appear, and the ancient Greek worldview generally. It argues that the ancient Greek notion of truth is inextricable from the spoken word.
