Abstract
The present study represents an attempt to improve the state of knowledge in one area of the field of gas-surface interactions, namely the collision of thermal-energy atoms with solid metallic surfaces. Its purpose is to determine and interpret, as completely as is presently possible, the velocity distribution of an initially monoenergetic beam of atoms after scatterings by a monocrystalline metal.
