Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to examine some of the existing methods of soil mapping, and to determine by field studies which methods were most applicable to engineering soil mapping for highway purposes in Virginia. Taken into consideration was the wide variety of natural materials and conditions confronting the highway engineer in Virginia.
This project has as a purpose the presentation of comparisons of the various methods and recommendations as to the methods appearing most suitable for highway engineering purposes.
