Abstract
This dissertation is in two parts, the first comprising a constructed theory of Differential Education for the Gifted (DEG), and the second, a multi-lingual glossary (English, French, German, and Spanish) of concepts central to the theory (N = 32).
In its entirety, the study is intended to provide an economical conceptual structure within which the nature of giftedness and a derivative process of education are addressed.
The glossary is an extension of the proposed theory, in that it encompasses and goes beyond the expected treatment of definitions in the four respective languages, i.e., provides for each of the thirty-two particular terms, two additional treatments for each.
The study on the whole is submitted as an instrument (i.e., theory and conceptual structure) through which a more disciplined understanding of gifted education can be arrived at by students in the now growing international community of interest; and through which more defensible approaches to the problem (i.e., theoretically authentic) can be made within state and local educational institutions.
