Abstract:
December 26, 1811 the Richmond Theater burned taking with it the lives of over seventy people. The fire gave rise to a building project which involved a monument and church. The purpose of this study is to analyze the designs for the proposed memorials submitted by architects, Benjamin Henry Latrobe (1764-1820) and Robert Mills (1781-1855).
