Abstract
It has been impossible up to the present time to ascertain the date of the first appearance of the novel Aves sin nido. All available sources of bibliographic material in United States libraries have been consulted; letters were written to several scholars in Peru; and the works of Clorinda Matto de Turner have been searched for internal evidence all without result.
The Secret Expedition to Peru (the English translation of the Noticias Secretas) gives the authors' names as George J., and Anthony Ulloa. It has been definitely established, however, that these writers were Antonio de Ulloa (1716-1795), and Jorge Juen.
