Abstract:
How can access to mental health care be improved? Success will require both technical and social innovation.
Medella is an application that employers offer to help their employees improve their mental and physical health. Users learn about health care resources and share findings with colleagues. Employers can use it to increase productivity and reduce health insurance costs. We successfully built a web application using the Django framework for Python. Medella will be passed on to the client for use.
At U.S. colleges and universities, limited funding and high demand constrain students’ access to mental health care. Students seeking care often must wait. Some students with unmet care needs drop out; a few resort to suicide.
