Abstract:
This work explores melancholia in the Italian context through an analysis of the paintings in Giuseppe di Lampedusa's historical novel II Gattopardo. Analyzing melancholia through paintings in ll Gattopardo will teach us that life is a manageable struggle when we look for happiness and freedom.
