Abstract
Curiosity in children is manifold and a frequent household topic of conversation. Unfortunately, it has too often remained at the anecdotal level not only among lay groups but also in professional circles. In this century, however, keen observation, together with powers of logic, have generated several provocative theories. Curiosity, with its corresponding emotion of wonder, is one of William McDougall's seven pairs of instincts.
