Abstract
This thesis is the culmination of two years of discussion around engineering education with Professor Mark Floryan as his Research Assistant. For my capstone technical project, Professor Floryan and I introduce Waypoints, a new method of pedagogy inspired by Mastery Learning and the Carnegie Learning Tutor. Separately, my STS topic introduces the limitations of lecture teaching and proposes alternative methods to mitigate them. These two papers chart different avenues of overhauling engineering education. Through them, we hope to motivate discussion and adoption of more radical change/iteration in engineering classrooms.
