Abstract
This thesis analyzes three photographs of President Donald Trump and their theological interpretation within the Religious Right. It identifies throughlines between their respective histories that contributed to the positive reception these photographs had among many in this demographic. This scholarship adopts an interdisciplinary approach, engaging visual/popular culture and media theory, as well as American religious and political history. Ultimately, it argues that these photographs epitomized the elements that have fostered Trump’s image as a quasi-religious figure within the Religious Right.
