Abstract
This thesis presents the opening two sections of a novel manuscript submitted to the Graduate Faculty of the University of Virginia in candidacy for the Degree of Master of Fine Arts. The novel follows two women and explores the aftermath of an abortion on their friendship. Across these narratives, I examine the psychological landscape of infertility; secrecy within female friendships; how the two friends navigate connection, grief, sexuality, and forgiveness; and broader questions of care, healing, and who is considered worthy of both.
