Abstract
In this paper, we discuss two related invariants in quantum topology. The first is Khovanov homology, a link invariant first developed by Khovanov as a categorification of the Jones polynomial. The second is the skein lasagna module, a 4-manifold invariant first developed by Morrison-Walker-Wedrich and defined using a variation of Khovanov homology. We detail constructions and properties of each invariant as well as a result of Manolescu and Neithalath for computing the skein lasagna module of 2-handlebodies.
