Abstract
This thesis project takes а critical and analytical look at if and how telemedicine should be adopted by the University of Virginia Medical Center Emergency Department (UVА ED). Telemedicine refers to the utilization of remote telecommunications in practicing medicine and transferring medical information. Much of the medical community as well as members of the public are looking to telemedicine to take an expanding role in the medical field. Specifically, the leaders of the UVА ED seek to find out exactly how telemedicine could help alleviate many of its current inadequacies.
