Geology of the Catoctin belt in the vicinity of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia

The area described in this report lies within the Piedmont province of Virginia, a region sufficiently noted for its complex physiographic and geologic characters. The Catoctin schist is the major rock type under discussion. This investigation mainly considers this altered igneous type and its probable geologic relationships.
