Abstract:
John Minor Botts is known as a Unionist, a phrase which accorded praise to such revered Virginians as John Marshall, but by 1850 to many it bore an unfavorable connotation. This study seeks to describe the genesis of Botts’ Unionism as it is revealed in his political activities.
