Abstract
Effective interfaces that simplify tasks without impairing decisions are crucial for high-stakes decision making in healthcare. Artificial intelligence (AI) can improve user experience by optimizing allocation decisions. However, AI poses a risk of algorithmic bias. The research team proposed interface redesigns to optimize the allocation of donor organs, using a user-centered design approach. The team developed a final interface mockup based on insights gathered from research and interviews. Future project teams may develop the mockup into a prototype for testing and evaluation. The ethical implications of medical AI are controversial, with patients, medical professionals, and healthcare service providers disagreeing on its optimal applications.
