With video games' popularity on the rise, more and more people around the world are playing video games. It does not matter what type of person you are as anyone should be able to get access to a video game and play it to their heart's content. However, is that really the case? There are people with certain types of disabilities that make it so that they can not fully enjoy playing video games. We as a just society should be making video games more accessible to people with disabilities so that they are not barred from enjoying this type of entertainment medium. The Capstone report explores how accessibility features and options could be implemented into video games. To showcase the process, a Capstone project implementing a color-blind feature in a video game will be used. The research paper highlights how federal policies affect video game accessibility. However, there is currently a severe lack of federal policies that address accessibility in video games. The research paper goes into depth on a few policies to explore the reasoning behind their lack of influence on video game accessibility.
