Abstract
By exploring its historical context and fluctuations, this thesis attempts to integrate the Dynasty Warriors video game series into the larger continuation of Three Kingdoms culture. It utilizes the Cao Wei general Xiahou Dun as an exemplary case study of the series' incorporation and manipulation of existing source material to create a new Three Kingdoms hero. The paper also makes use of a greater consciousness of the video game sphere, highlighting the means by which the series relates to its contemporaries and utilizes its form to emphasize its reconfigured Three Kingdoms narrative.
