Abstract:

This thesis explores Taiwan’s water management strategies in light of increasing climate variability and water scarcity. Historically, Taiwan enjoyed ample water resources due to high levels of precipitation. However, recent droughts, particularly the 2020-2021 drought caused by the absence of typhoons, have highlighted the island’s challenges with water management. Taiwan’s future water security lies not in augmenting supply through costly methods like desalination, but in optimizing the utilization of existing water resources.
