Abstract
The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the design intentions and the planning process utilized in the creation of the six state parks in Virginia which were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from 1933 to 1942. The intent of the study is to identify and illustrate the design intentions of the Landscape Architects, Architects, Engineers and other professionals who created and reviewed the master plans for the six parks. The purpose is also to examine the planning process which was used to transform the design intentions into physical reality.
